Allusion Poem: Final

Braiding my brown hair into two piggy tails
Putting on my blue checkered dress
Carrying my brown weaved basket
Looking over the rainbow
Where the blue birds fly every morning
I’m going to follow the road will lead me to success
I’m going to follow the road will help me find friendship
Taking my first step on the road

My slippers shine bright on a rainy day
When the skies is gray my slippers turn red
The storm has hit, it rushes through my face
My parents fighting once again
I just want to escape from this world
Now I have, into this wonderful land
people call Oz

Walking down the road, seeing corn for miles
No one in sight, no friends I see, I just don’t believe my eyes
I enter this new world, all in color
With things so small, but other things massive
I look at them from right to left

Giving people a helping hand
When they are at their lowest point
No brain, no heart and no courage
Things that my friends desire in life
Taking my friends somewhere
Where their dreams can come true
A place where they can get a
A brain, a heart, and courage
But continuing to get home sick
And wanting to be with my family once again

I click the heels of my slippers three times
There’s no place like home, There’s no place like home I say to myself
From this journey I have learned
that a heart is no judged by how much you love
but by how much you are loved by others
Upbraiding my braids
Unbuckling my shoes

I can’t wait to fall asleep and wake up to another
